Having an “intimate problem” is no longer something that’s taboo. Having visibly enlarged labia on one or both sides can lead to difficulty when wearing tight clothing and can even interfere with your sex life. However, it is very possible to correct this using specially developed surgical methods. Excessive skin is removed using a special technique. We only use dissolving stitches in the genital area.
Reducing the labia minora
Depending on your baseline, there are a number of different approaches to this procedure. When reducing the labia minora, the lower area of the enlarged labia are corrected so that they no longer protrude beyond the labia majora. If the upper area around the clitoris is enlarged or slackened, the hood of the clitoris can be incorporated into the lifting and reduction of the labia minora.
Reduction/lifting of the labia majora
Some women find their labia majora to be too big and want to have them reduced. In this case, excess tissue along the entire length of the labia is removed. Incisions and sutures are placed on the interior of the labia so that any later scarring disappears into the fold of the labia minora.
Augmentation of the labia majora
Two techniques are available for filling out the labia majora: we can either inject it with fillers like hyaluronan or top it up with a fat transplant.
Hyaluronan fillers are the simplest option. They can be injected quickly and easily and the patient can then go about their normal day with no limitations. However, over time, hyaluronan dissolves over time and treatment must be repeated after 12 to 18 months.
Injecting the area with a fat transplant offers a lasting solution. First, fat cells are taken from problem areas. By injecting them into the labia with a fine cannula, the result is little to no scarring. As a natural bodily material, this fat will grow into the existing tissue and will provide a lasting result. Treatment with a fat transplant costs more because it also requires liposuction.
Both injection with a fat transplant and with hyaluronan fillers can be combined with procedures to reduce or lift the labia.
Intervention without later sensory disturbances
When performing surgical interventions on the genital area, it is essential to keep the sensory capacities of the external sexual organs intact. The numerous nerves in the intimate lie so deep within the tissue that they are not injured by the incision. You should therefore not expect to see any reduction in sensation with this kind of intervention.
